Our Animal-Assisted Services

Facility Visits

Once you have become a registered Pet Partners® team, we have many facilities who are just waiting for your visit. Several of the locations in the Central Arkansas area our teams visit are listed here. Many of these locations require screening, orientations to their individual facility, and background checks before visiting.

Camp Healing Hearts

Camp Healing Hearts is a grief camp for children who have suffered a loss. Our animals help engage the children in activities and build rapport with counselors and fellow campers during this difficult time.

College Stress Relief

Studying for exams and adjusting to your new life on campus can be very stressful and affect both your physical and mental health.

During these visits, our teams provide comfort and stress relief through human-animal interaction. We even visit graduate schools like UAMS and Bowen School of Law.

Please note, these visits involve our teams visiting during exam time; we do not do house calls.

Crisis Response

AACR is a form of animal-assisted activities
(AAA) that provides comfort to those who have been affected by natural, human-caused, or technological disasters. Our teams with special AACR training have assisted in the aftermath of crisis response situations, including tornadoes, floods, and school shooting incidents. AACR is effective because the safety, familiarity, novelty, and interest in the animal have been found to be impactful when building rapport with a person affected by crisis.

Dog Safety for Children

Our teams provide a safe and comfortable environment to teach children about proper animal handling and bite prevention.

Therapeutic Arts Festival

At the Therapeutic Arts Festival, children with special needs get a chance to interact with our animals and experience the benefits of AAT first-hand.

Read With me

Read with Me is a special initiative that supports safe and effective interactions for reading and literacy programs.

Member Insight

We can provide mentors for Central Arkansas Pet Partners members before visiting a facility, so you are confident and have someone to walk you through a visit and introduce you to the facility staff. The Central Arkansas Pet Partners members meet every other month to share their adventures, celebrate victories with our pets and in our families, and listen to guest speakers who are always inspiring and help us serve our facilities better.
